Fade Audio In and Out

A fade gradually changes the volume of an audio clip over time. A fade-in starts with silence and increases to full volume, while a fade-out begins at full volume and decreases to silence.

  1. With the audio editor open, select the trim symbol audio trim icon.
  2. Choose Fade to reveal fade handles, which appear as shaded areas in the clip to represent where the volume increases or decreases.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Drag the yellow fade handle at the start of the clip to set the duration of the fade-in. A fade-in starts at the beginning of the audio clip trimming.
    • Drag the yellow fade handle at the end of the clip to set the duration of the fade-out. A fade-out ends at the end of the audio clip trimming.
  4. Press Play to preview the fade-in or fade-out.
  5. Select Done to close the audio editor.
